Coates is the national correspondent at The Atlantic, where he writes about culture, politics and social issues. His forthcoming book, out in October, is titled "We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy". He is the author of "Between the World and Me," for which he received the 2015 National Book Award for Nonfiction.
