Warming World: Methane Emissions See Highest Spike in the Last Two Decades

In 2014 and 2015, methane emissions spiked from the annual average increase of 0.5 parts per billion (ppb) since the early 2000’s to 10 or more parts per billion. Scientists will be discussing the issue at the fall meeting of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) in San Francisco tomorrow.

There are 269,000 tons of plastic floating on the surface of the ocean, with much more littering the depths below, and its destroying ecosystems across the world. Hundreds of aquatic ecosystems across the globe are now considered dead zones due to plastics pollution and other factors contributing to climate change.
