None of the nearly 6,000 individuals vaccinated with rVSV-ZEBOV in Guinea, a country with more than 3,000 confirmed cases of Ebola, showed any signs of contracting the disease. With an average fatality rate of 50 percent, finding ways to stop Ebola before it can be contracted is our best line of defense against this deadly disease.

U.S. Senators: We Must Support Safely Operating Nuclear Power Plants

Two U.S. senators, one a Republican and one a Democrat, have expressed their support for nuclear power, which currently provides 60 percent of the U.S.'s carbon-free electricity. By investing in research, we could find better ways to deal with the radioactive byproducts of fission and build better nuclear reactors that are less likely to experience meltdowns.

White House Releases a Solution to Automation-Caused Job Loss

In a new report, the current White House administration addresses the subject of unemployment due to automation, which is estimated to eliminate up to 47 percent of jobs. Whether the solution is education and research, like the report suggests, or universal basic income, the issue is one that the Trump administration will need to address.
