We have some uplifting news — today student network People & Planet revealed through its University League that 16 more universities have made divestment commitments, bringing the total to 43 – a quarter of all UK unis!

Researchers have developed a thermoelectric paint that produces an energy output of 4 mW/cm2 by harnessing the waste heat from hot surfaces. Along with innovations like solar windows and solar roof shingles, the paint could be used to power homes without relying on environmentally damaging fossil fuels.

At the United Nations climate conference in Marrakech, Morocco, members of the Climate Vulnerable Forum pledged to have fully green economies between 2030 and 2050. These nations are particularly susceptible to the negative impacts of climate change, but without the help of more well-off nations, their contributions won't be enough.

Facebook's Connectivity Lab achieved a record data beaming rate last Thursday – roughly 20 Gbps over 13 km (around 8 miles). The Lab plans to install this technology into Aquila, their solar-powered internet-beaming drones, which were also launched earlier this year.
