Exxon’s CEO is meeting with Trump today.

Today Rex Tillerson — CEO of ExxonMobil, the world’s biggest oil company, and a top funder of attacks on science and climate action — is going to Trump Tower for an interview to become the next nominee for US Secretary of State.

An oil baron as Secretary of State could do enormous damage. He could deeply disrupt international efforts towards climate action, take retribution against countries that defy the oil industry, and help write more international trade deals that put profit ahead of people.

We have a few short days before Trump decides his Secretary of State pick. A huge outcry could derail this disaster.

Help us send a message to Trump that Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson should not be Secretary of State.

ExxonMobil knew about climate change more than 40 years ago. Since then, they’ve engaged in a global disinformation campaign that deceived their investors, delayed serious action and put millions of people at risk.1 Rex Tillerson made millions off of this strategy, and would have every incentive to continue the deception while Secretary of State.

Covering up climate science and deceiving investors qualifies you for federal investigation, not federal office.

Send a message to oppose Rex Tillerson’s nomination for Secretary of State.

Last month, professional climate denier Myron Ebell was floated as Trump’s pick to lead the EPA. The public outrage was swift and loud, and now Ebell seems to have fallen out of the running. That’s good news in that it shows public pressure works on Trump — and that we might be able to do the same thing with Tillerson.

The bad news, of course, is that Trump isn’t going to stop nominating climate deniers to key positions. None of the options look good, and we’re going to have to keep pushing back.

But if that means we avoid endowing Exxon’s CEO with the powers of Secretary of State, I say let’s push with all we’ve got. Click here to sign on.

We have a shot to make an impact on this nomination, and we need to take it.

Thanks for speaking out,

Jamie
